The Call for Free Community College

In a commentary piece published online in Roll Call on February 5^th, American Association of Community Colleges President and CEO Dr. Walter G. Bumphus and five other top leaders in the community college field urged Congress to support President Obama’s America’s College Promise initiative.

The 78^th US Congress passed the GI Bill, creating the catalyst for the greatest economic expansion in our nation’s history and constructing a middle class that the world would envy. The members of the 114^th Congress, too, can go down in history having opened the doors of opportunity to the American people. We ask, respectfully, that Congress seize this significant moment to fulfill America’s College Promise.
