Senior Vice President, Corporate Social Good
(Location:  New York, NY or Washington D.C, or San Francisco, CA or Los Angeles, CA)

Fenton seeks a Senior Vice President, steeped in Corporate Social Responsibility, with demonstrated experience in helping corporate clients build their brands and communicate the affect their social impact programs have in improving the world we live in, from raising awareness and donations for world hunger and climate change, improving human rights such as equal access to education and equal treatment in the criminal justice system to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.  
The Senior Vice President will assume a leadership role for the largest corporate account at Fenton.  They will apply their expertise as an integrated communications strategist and oversee a team spanning multiple highly complex workstreams, ranging from strategic messaging, media relations and experiential programming.  Candidates may work out of any one of our four offices.
A successful Senior Vice President demonstrates proficiency in completing the following activities:

  • Providing the highest level of substantive, strategist counsel to clients to foster the relationship of a trusted advisor; conducting strategic planning for corporate and brand clients, providing day-to-day oversight of multiple large accounts including quality control checks, and evaluation of account progress and client satisfaction
  • Leading effective client teams that generate results and high client satisfaction, have well-directed team members who perform well and feel valued, and come in on budget
  • Ensuring that assigned clients receive regular status reports and budget updates
  • Writing high level strategy memos and continuously ideate creative ideas and approaches
  • Taking a leadership role in the corporate responsibility and purpose practice area, from project oversight to new business
  • Overseeing the development of strategy documents, communication plans, memos, press kits, and other collaterals by staff
  • Editing marketing and press materials, including press releases, fact sheets and opinion pieces
  • Editing and advising on the creations of research reports
  • Advising teams on pitching key reporters
  • Conducting media trainings for clients and other spokespeople
  • Advising on a range of public interest media campaigns
  • Managing client budgets for profitability for preventing overages
  • Ensuring direct reports meet or exceed weekly billings requirements
  • Providing budget projections for weekly financial meeting; projecting hours needed from staff assigned to your accounts, working with other senior staff to distribute billable hours among junior staff as necessary
  • Meeting revenue goals established in advance with Managing Director
  • Identifying and pitching new business opportunities, focusing on potential Fenton clients, participate in new business pitches, create and land new business proposals and expand existing accounts.
  • Developing, writing and reviewing proposals and budgets for new accounts
  • Leading pitch teams
  • Mentoring and developing staff assigned to you, offering growth opportunities that advance their careers, retain top performers and help manage workflow effectively; assuming an office-wide role in training and mentoring staff.
  • Participating in regular strategy meetings with senior staff on organizational goals, growth and vision
  • Attending staff/job team meetings and providing input and feedback on business, including client service, staff development, and office procedures
  • Maintaining effective and efficient office structure through proper selection processes and coordination with Human Resources


  • Minimum Bachelors’ degree in Public Relations, Communications, Advertising, Political Science, English or related field
  • 8-12 years’ experience in integrated marketing communications – both strategy and execution
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate communications and corporate responsibility
  • Experience in a public relations or advertising agency highly desirable; firm understanding of client billing process, client contracts and customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client account and budgets
  • Demonstrated business development and public networking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to pitch and land new business skills
  • 5-7 years’ staff management and mentoring experience, including direct management of a staff of 2 individuals at varying careers levels
  • Excellent news sense and political savviness, as well as knowledge of print and electronic news media
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively – both verbal and nonverbal, with various levels of staff, clients, contractors and media
  • Strong experience writing proposals
  • Ability to interact and perform in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, optimism and flexibility in approach to project assignments
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Suite, Lexis-Nexis, as well as research Internet skills
