Fenton Celebrates International Human Rights Day by Spotlighting LGBT Injustice in Russia

As the world comes together to celebrate International Human Rights Day, Fenton is proud to partner with a movement, Uprising of Love, that is bringing attention to a modern day human rights crisis. With the Winter Olympics fast approaching, all eyes have turned to Russia and the injustices being committed against the LGBT community. As a result of recent laws and proposed legislation, anti-gay violence in Russia has been increasing and LGBT activists have been targeted for prosecution.

Today, Fenton helped the Arcus Foundation launch a coalition of celebrities dedicated to supporting the Russia Freedom Fund, that raises money for long-term, systemic change in the status and treatment of Russia’s LGBT community. Uprising of Love was co-founded by Melissa Etheridge and Linda Wallem, Dustin Lance Black, Bruce Cohen, and Greg Propper. More than 50 celebrities are part of the coalition including Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, James Franco, Edward Norton, Jim Parsons, Julianne Moore, Chris Colfer, Zachary Quinto and more. Uprising of Love is a collaboration of a number of partners including the Arcus Foundation, All Out, GLAAD, Human Rights Campaign and NOH8.

This recent partnership continues to build on Fenton’s strong commitment to LGBT equality through work on innovative approaches to encouraging acceptance and inclusion.
